The building is located in the historic area, the site of demolished Renaissance building, which is shown in Figure Frederick Bernard Werner from 1736. Most age eyewitnesses are present cellars, which in the twelfth century were the ground floor of the building. One of the owners was a trader J. Mugdan, who initiated, in 1870, the project to build two more storeys to existing building.

The next owner Louis Cohn in 1901, commissioned the design of trade house to the architects Richard and Paul Ehrlich, who are creators of facade, which we can see to this day. Thus, since 1902 the building represents a unique neo-mannerism, style which is combining Art Nouveau with less popular mannerism. The styling of the twentieth century was an attempt to integrate modern facility with a commercial function with its historic surroundings. That is how a new chapter of Market Square 49 began. From that moment tenement became known as Trade House Trautner. The turn of the nineteen and twenty century was a period of “economic boom”. In Wroclaw that time was built nearly forty trade stores and shopping centers. Eighteen of them were located in the market, changing his previous look, that now we try to faithfully restored.
